With customer and flight data central to operations, an airport’s IT infrastructure is one of its most important critical facilities.
With a wealth of experience delivering critical infrastructure projects within highly secure and mission critical environments, Keysource was selected by a major airport group to evaluate their existing infrastructure as well as advise on, design and deliver a new data centre as part of a wider programme of change that will increase passenger capacity over time.
With millions of passengers travelling through the airport annually, system availability was the number one concern as any downtime or disruption to the airports operations could immediately cause huge reputational and financial damage. Keysource is used to working in live environments where disruption is not an option and partners with clients to deliver critical infrastructure upgrades without risking business operations.
Our consultants advised on the design of a new-build data centre facility and audited the airport’s three existing facilities. The resulting best-practice data centre estate will now operate for over 20 years and help ensure that the airport’s IT infrastructure is fit-for-purpose as it expands.
Paul Beaver, Head of Aviation at Keysource, said:
“In the aviation sector, clients commonly face challenges like designing for delivery in live environments, meeting high security requirements, and ensuring estates are futureproofed."
“We’re seeing more and more transport and aviation customers turning to specialist critical environment partners, like Keysource, to manage and deliver their projects, especially when there can be zero impact to passenger services or operations.”
Keysource has a vast range of experience working within highly secure environments that have complex passing and permitting processes, including Defence, Blue Light and Aviation. Our specialist engineering teams also understand the complexities of airport logistics, including operating airside.
