Following a fantastic first day at the London Conference that hosted a presentation by our Associate Director, Steve Lorimer, DCD officially announced the shortlist for the 2019 Data Center Dynamics Global awards.
We are delighted to have been shortlisted for two awards in the categories of Edge Datacenter Project and Modernization Project of the Year.
The edge category was for our collaboration with Dell EMC to support multiple edge data centre deployments at key locations across the globe. The micro Modular Data Centres (MDCs), designed by Dell EMC’s Extreme Scale Infrastructure team, will help a multinational automotive company in the roll-out of its connected vehicle technology. The goal is to use analytic data at the edge to improve vehicle performance, reliability and driver experience. Keysource are delivering ongoing maintenance and facilities management for the MDCs.
The modernisation shortlist was for our project with Manchester Airport Group as they upgrade their IT and technology infrastructure to meet present and future demand. The data centre estate will now operate for over 20 years and help ensure that the airport’s IT infrastructure is fit-for-purpose as it expands. With millions of passengers travelling through the airport annually, system availability was the number one concern as any downtime or impact to IT services could directly affect flights and airport operations. The projects were completed simultaneously across a live operating airport with no impact to passengers, revenue or reputation.
The Awards are part of a unique global series that provides worldwide recognition to outstanding individuals, teams and projects. An independent panel of industry experts reviewed 400 entries globally to whittle down and finalise the shortlist in each of the 16 categories. The winners will be announced at a gala ceremony on 5th December at the Royal Lancaster Hotel.
